No, definitely not! The voltages present on the panel are signal voltages that must not be loaded. All consumers must be properly connected to a free output of the EBL.
There is one exception: Some older panels have separate circuit breakers or switches installed for the direct connection of additional consumers; only in such cases may consumers be connected to the panel.

No. We are not a replacement for a motorhome specialist dealer with an attached workshop. Our service is aimed at correcting malfunctions in our devices. However, we often encounter errors that have nothing to do with our devices. For example, a loose cable connection on the battery. These errors will of course be corrected as far as we can. However, if a more complex repair measure is required, such as replacing or retrofitting entire pipes, we must refer you to a specialist workshop.
In your own interest: No. Any manipulation of our devices not only leads to the relevant approvals and warranty claims being void but also endangers your safety! If we receive a modified device, we will return it to its original condition for a fee. No objects of any kind may be screwed to the housings of our devices. This would seriously endanger electrical safety.
The control panel and power supply or charging system only work in the combination installed by the vehicle manufacturer at the factory. It is not possible to change the control panel while retaining the charging system and without changing all cable connections, as each control panel is individually designed and differs electrically and/or mechanically from others.
If the old control panel is defective and no longer available, you can always send it to us for repair.
In this case, the booster must be looped into the charging cable of the starter battery in front of and as close as possible to the EBL. The negative line must not be interrupted, otherwise consequential damage may occur! Some boosters have galvanic isolation; if in doubt, you should ask the booster manufacturer whether the negative input and output of the booster can be connected.
If the charging booster is a third-party device, we cannot provide any further information.

Basically, we always recommend that the defective device be sent to us for repair.
If you require a replacement device as an end customer, please contact your dealer or our trading partners. There is no sale to private customers.
We also send a replacement device to commercial and non-industry customers for a fee if it is still in production or in stock.
The defective device will not be taken back for credit.
However, we would be happy to repair the defective device for you so that you can then have an intact replacement device in stock or use it elsewhere.
The range of functions of the digital display panel is tailored to the components installed in the vehicle at the factory and therefore a change in the range of functions can lead to malfunctions. However, if a retrofit is to be carried out, such as a solar controller from us, the respective option must be activated on the panel. Your dealer can help you here. Please understand that we cannot provide end customers with any information about this.
We can provide you with electrical information relating to our devices. Before you contact us, however, you should already have the concept in place, as we do not teach the basics. Through the Internet you can obtain a lot of general information in advance, such as VDE regulations.
We have not officially approved the installation of third-party devices together with Schaudt devices because, with a few exceptions, we do not carry out any tests in this regard.
Therefore, the installation of a third-party device is entirely the responsibility of the vehicle owner.
However, we are currently not aware of any cases in which a third-party device caused damage to one of our components.
Of course, we cannot say how other components installed in the vehicle will react to a changed charging voltage, for example.
Older chargers, type drawing starting with LA… often require a counter voltage from the battery to start. To start the charger, a battery with at least 4-5V voltage must be connected and the charger must be connected to the 230V network.
Some chargers in the LA series… have a “charging start” button, where charging can be forced to start even after connecting a battery with a voltage of around 0V. If you try to measure voltage at the charger output without a battery, it will be 0V. But this is not a defect in the charger.
In principle, warranty claims must always be made to the seller of the vehicle or device!
In exceptional cases and after prior approval from us, devices can also be sent directly to us, for example if the seller of the device can no longer be reached.

Repairs of devices on account are not possible.
In the vast majority of cases, the causes of a failure of the entire 12V supply or individual circuits are not due to our devices. In the event of a failure, the two fuses and their connections on the living area battery must first be checked. Next, the fuses in the engine compartment, which protect the lines to the electrical block for the refrigerator, D+ and charging, must be checked. Tripped fuses for the consumer circuits on the EBL can also paralyze individual areas of the 12V supply. A tripped fuse can be replaced. If it trips again, the cause must first be found. Tip: When purchasing a vehicle, please take a look at where our devices and their fuses are hidden so that in the event of an error, you can access them quickly.
Never bridge fuses with metal objects and only use fuses with the appropriate value! If a fuse is defective, there is always a reason!
All consumers and voltage sources in the 12V system must be connected to the electrical block. As soon as consumers (e.g. inverters) and/or voltage sources (e.g. solar controllers) are connected directly to the battery, an exact current evaluation and therefore an exact display of the battery capacity can no longer be carried out. If a direct connection of consumers to the battery is unavoidable, we must deactivate the capacity display. In such cases, please contact our customer service.
In principle, the focus of troubleshooting here is in the area of the fuses or fuse holders on the starter battery. Plug connectors or branches and fuses/fuse holders in the engine compartment in the area of the D+ supply line can also be faulty.
Check whether the D+ signal is present at the EBL and whether the fuses in the starter battery area are intact. The refrigerator supply line is usually fused directly to the starter battery with 15 or 20 amps. If the refrigerator does not work on gas, check whether the EBL fuses are defective or missing. The refrigerator control is often supplied via a so-called reserve connection; we do not always insert the fuses for these connections at the factory.
It should be noted that recharging the starter battery is only a trickle charge, which can be between 2A and a maximum of 6A depending on the electric block used. This recharging serves to compensate for the current draw from consumers connected to the starter battery; due to the principle, a full charge of the starter battery is not possible.
In most cases, the starter battery on our electric blocks is recharged via mains operation via the refrigerator’s supply line, which is connected to the starter battery via a fuse.
If the starter battery is not charged, this fuse or a component in the supply line itself is usually defective.
Another indication of an interruption in the supply line from the starter battery to the refrigerator is a non-functioning query of the starter battery voltage on the control panel as soon as there is no longer any mains operation and no other voltage sources such as solar controllers are present in the system.
The temperature display on our control panels is adjusted to a reference value during production, so it is very accurate. “Adjusting” it to other thermometers is not possible and would lead to inaccuracy. Of course, only the temperature of the location where the respective sensor is located can be displayed. And here is the reason why you cannot simply use a thermometer as a comparison to another temperature display: In practice, you will never achieve the same ambient conditions with the comparison thermometer as with the thermometer to be checked, usually not even if you place them right next to each other would put. It should also be borne in mind that the accuracy of the so-called “reference thermometer” can be very poor
If the outside temperature is extreme, such as -40°C or +60°C, it can be assumed that the outside temperature sensor is faulty, which can be obtained from the vehicle manufacturer.
This is always a voltage sensor line that transmits precise information about the battery voltage to the device in question. Since this is not possible via the load cables, a separate cable from the battery is laid here.
If the term “sensor” refers to temperature measurement in our documents, this is always clearly mentioned.
Only a maximum of fuses with the values printed on the front may be inserted.
All our devices are designed for 6-cell lead batteries, nominal voltage 12V. There are a few exceptions that are suitable for a different voltage; the nameplate provides information here.
Since battery manufacturers’ specifications change over time and new batteries become established on the market, we strive to adapt our devices to these changes.
The operating instructions for your device will provide you with definitive information about the charging characteristics of your device.
If you are not sure whether you can charge your battery, e.g. AGM or LiFePo, with our device, please obtain approval from the battery manufacturer by presenting the charging characteristic curve.
This primarily applies to replacing batteries or expanding your vehicle.
For batteries installed ex works by the vehicle manufacturer together with our chargers, the charger-battery combination is compatible.
Please use our advance repair notification before sending in a defective device. This ensures a transparent and smooth repair process. Devices sent freight forwarded will not be accepted.
They can be used to disconnect all consumers from the batteries when the vehicle is not being used for a long period of time without interrupting the charging path, provided that the consumers are connected directly to the EBL and not to the battery.
This prevents the battery from discharging, while at the same time charging via solar, mains, etc. is possible as usual.
Some generators produce massive overvoltages when starting or when the speed fluctuates. This can endanger connected devices. Therefore, before the vehicle is connected to the generator, the generator should have reached its rated speed. To ensure that there is no danger to your sensitive electronics, the OVP 01 surge protector from our company can be installed upstream. When an overvoltage is detected, it immediately interrupts the mains supply and only switches it on again when the mains voltage has reached a normal level.
Basically, the vehicle manufacturer determines whether the AES fuse is equipped.
As soon as the fuse is plugged in, the refrigerator output of the EBL is supplied from the living area battery when the engine is stopped. Without a fuse plugged in, the connection only carries voltage when the engine is running.
Whether the fuse is inserted depends on what type of refrigerator it is. In a refrigerator with its own electronics and several energy sources, the fuse is usually plugged in; in a pure absorption refrigerator it must not be plugged in, otherwise the additional battery will be discharged very quickly.
However, there is no general rule; if in doubt, you should consult the refrigerator or vehicle manufacturer.
